Hilbert and Lillian KnueppelHistory

Hilbert and Lillian Knueppel founded Knueppel Pharmacy in 1955. In 1972 ownership was transferred to their son, Richard Knueppel, and then in 2003 to William Knueppel and Cindy Ciardo. We remain family owned and operated with deep roots within the community - no small feat in our rapidly changing healthcare environment.

Over the 50 plus years serving the community, the company has evolved from a neighborhood pharmacy into what is now Knueppel HealthCare Services, Inc., a thriving business with a tradition of excellence for providing rehab and home medical equipment, orthopedic braces and supports, women's healthcare products, compression therapy products and medical supplies. We service Southeastern Wisconsin out of our three locations: Milwaukee/West Allis, Racine and Franklin.

Knueppel HealthCare Services, Inc. is very committed to the communities we serve. We strongly believe in continuing education for our staff, and in sharing that knowledge with our clients and healthcare professionals. Therefore, we sponsor community events that educate or provide a service. We present educational in-services on a variety of topics addressing the healthcare concerns and needs of the elderly, disabled, cancer survivors and healthcare professionals. We also support and participate in many organizations that educate consumers and healthcare professionals, increase awareness of healthcare related issues within the medical community, and advocate improvements within our industry.

We believe that informed clients and healthcare providers will make better decisions about the products and services they receive or recommend. We know that making educated choices results in better compliance and treatment success, positively impacting comfort, safety, well-being, and total rehabilitation.

Rehab and Assistive Technology

Our techs have years of experience evaluating, fitting and adapting specialty equipment for severely physically challenged individuals. They are certified by the National Registry of Rehab Technicians and have passed a credentialing exam administered by the Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America. Because our company believes in continuing education, our techs never stop being exposed to the learning process - continually updating their knowledge of disease states, technological advancements, product innovation, and legislation impacting coverage requirements and qualifying criteria. We work with physicians, therapists and reimbursement sources to provide the most appropriate seating and mobility equipment to meet our clients’ individual and specific therapeutic needs.

Home Medical Equipment

We understand that living with certain medical conditions, recovering from injuries and surgeries, and managing problems associated with the aging process can be difficult to cope with. We want to help our clients remain independent for as long as possible. The process of determining the right type of medical equipment for an individual’s needs begins with a thorough evaluation of the client’s medical condition, physical needs and home environment. Our experienced medical equipment consultants will evaluate each client, assess safety needs, review product features and benefits, factor in personal preferences and discuss equipment options that are available within the cost guidelines of the funding source.

Service and Repair

Our friendly and experienced staff is committed to providing customer service that sets us apart from our competition. Our full-time manufacturer-trained service technicians are experienced in the service and repair of high-tech equipment from all of the leading manufacturers. We offer emergency service to our clients and provide temporary back-up equipment in qualifying situations. Service and adjustments are inevitable with some equipment and we want to inconvenience our clients as little as possible.

Fitting Services

Women Helping Women… At Essential Image, the women’s specialty division of Knueppel HealthCare Services, the female consultants are trained, experienced and certified by the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC). Equally important, we are caring, compassionate and committed to making challenging times easier for our clients. We know that coping with life-altering experiences like debilitating injuries, prolonged or terminal illness, surgical treatments, loss of bladder control and the consequences of aging can be difficult. We also understand that for some women, shopping for specialty products can be overwhelming and even embarrassing. But we are confident that by working together, we can help you find the answers to your questions, assist you in making the right choices when determining what specialty products will best meet your healthcare needs, and help you feel better, regain your self-confidence and look your very best.

Medical Supplies and Personal Care Products

We try to help our clients with special needs by providing information, support and products to help manage a wide array of medical conditions. We want our clients to fully understand their condition and management options, and therefore offer the resources to help them find the information and assistance they need. Our consultants are caring, compassionate, and committed to making challenging times easier. We understand that finding the right specialty products is very personal and can be embarrassing, but our consultants and RN/ET will help our clients find the right products and solutions to help manage their condition, thereby allowing them to live a full and active life.

Insurance Billing

We know that health insurance issues are complicated. In fact, many of our clients view the process of verifying and coordinating insurance benefits as a "nightmare". We agree. That's why our Insurance Coordinators and Reimbursement Specialists are happy to assist you in determining your health care benefits and answer any questions you may have.

We are contracted with most HMO's, PPO's, other managed care health plans and area health networks. It is the practice of Knueppel HealthCare Services, Inc. to file claims to all insurances with whom we are contracted or have an agreement. We also bill city and county programs and other third party pay sources, and accept Medicare and Medicaid assignment. We do our best to verify insurance benefits for all clients; however, all insurance verifications for coverage are based on plan provisions and are not a guarantee of benefits. Clients are responsible for co-insurance, co-pays, deductibles and amounts due for items their insurance deems non-covered. Payment is due 15 days from the date of the billing statement.
